These 10 Terrifying Parasites Will Haunt Your Dreams (VIDEO)

Sometimes the stuff of nightmares are so small, you can't even see them.

Yes, we are talking about terrifying, horrifying, disgusting, crazy, scary parasites. The microscopic monsters are organisms that depend on food and shelter from a host for survival. In this video by AllTime10s, we see 10 of these creatures that are apt to feed on humans.

To name just one, the Loa loa is a blood-dwelling worm (a.k.a. the African eye worm), and is mostly spread by biting mango flies in Africa. Loa loa can "live inside its host for up to 17 years, moving under the skin and causing swelling," the video notes. "Adult worms visibly move across the surface of the eye. Treatment can result in personality changes."

Yup, don't eat while watching this video.

Fortunately, most parasites are symptomatic, so they can be detected and diagnosed. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that most people affected by parasitic disease live in communities in the tropics and subtropics where health care is not always easily accessible.
