10 Reasons To Be Glad You're 'Type A'

Believe it or not, life can be pretty good on the A side.

Type A individuals have a notorious reputation for being uptight ― an adjective that highlights a stressed-out nature and power-walking persona. But while there are certainly some negatives about every character type, it’s better to embrace your positives than ruminate on your flaws. The reality is your Type A personality also has a lot of admirable qualities ― and it’s high time you embrace them.

Below are a few reasons why you should actually be glad you’re Type A.

1. You're reliable.

Expected to be somewhere at 12:30? You're right on time. Type A folks have a fear of wasting time, so the word "late" is absolutely not in your vocabulary. Not only that, you follow through on your commitments because you're holding yourself accountable for them. That makes you pretty reliable, don't you think?

2. You're organized.

A messy desk may encourage a creative mind, but to you it only promotes chaos. You don't have time to deal with the stress of a lost item or a forgotten task. You know where everything is at all times and the status of each project, which makes life easier in the office and at home.

3. You're goal-oriented.

To put it simply, Type A individuals make things happen. Do you have your eyes on a certain job? You do everything you can to get yourself there. Want to execute a surprise party for your best friend? You organize every last detail. There's nothing holding you back from a five-year plan, because "goal" is your middle name.

4. Your competitive nature serves as motivation.

Okay, so maybe being super competitive isn't the most ideal characteristic. However, it does drive you to be the best version of yourself -- and there's nothing wrong with striving for improvement.

5. You're emotional.

Type As aren't short of feelings, whether it be passion or determination. You become truly invested at in your work and your relationships because you want to see them flourish -- and that's a good quality to have.

6. You efficiently complete tasks.

When it comes to work, Type As treat every assignment as though it's urgent. Not only that, your fear of wasting time drives you to make sure your project is completed quickly and thoroughly so you can move on to the next task. After all, is there anything more satisfying than crossing out an item on your to-do list? (Answer: No).

7. You're highly conscientious.

Sure, you can be a little, well, intense -- but that's only because you care. Type A folks are extremely conscientious. Chances are you're the one who remembers the exact date of your parents' wedding anniversary and the person who memorizes your friends' birthdates. Now that's the type of person anyone would want in their squad.

8. You're likely successful at work.

Mostly because of all the aforementioned points above. You know what it takes to do your job -- and as a result, you do it well.

9. You appreciate rare moments of calm.

Type A individuals are sensitive to stress, making it tough to relax. However, when a blissful moment of peace does come knocking at your door, you don't hesitate to take advantage of it. Savoring the moment -- also known as mindfulness -- can do wonders for those stress levels, so it's important to relish in those opportunities as much as possible.

10. You can't help being Type A.

Sometimes you can't help the personality that you're given -- so as the saying goes, if you can't beat it, join it. Research suggests that self acceptance is a key to a happier life but it's a habit people rarely practice. It's about time you start. Long live your quirky tendencies, Type A.
