Gene Wilder died on 8/28/16, he was 83. Here are 10 things I learned about Gene Wilder:

1. He died from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

2. He co-starred in 4 films with Richard Pryor.

3, He and Mel Brooks met at a play in 1963 and were introduced by Anne Bancroft.

4. He was born in Milwaukee.

5. His birth name was Jerome Silberman.

6. His father was Russian and his mother was Polish.

7. He studied acting with Lee Strasberg.

8. At age 6 he began entertaining his semi-invalid mother by improvising comedy skits.

9. He took acting lessons from age 12 through college.

10. He got his stage name from the character Eugene Gant in the play, Look Homeward, Angel and from the playwright Thornton Wilder.
