I was watching the move Bucket List last week and it got me to thinking about some of things things that I would like to do before it's to late. Some of the dreams or ambitions that I have had that I would still like to complete before my time is up.

In no particular order here are the 10 things I would would like to do before it's too late.

1 - Build a log cabin in the mountains.

I have always liked the way that they look, the warmth of the wood, and the peace and quiet of the wilderness. Many years ago we visited a friends cabin up in the mountains of Colorado and ever since then it has been a dream to own one of my own, and i recently read an article about log homes and how you could build them for a reasonable price. Although I am not sure my wife would agree with me building it as my construction skills leave a lot to be desired.

2 Visit The Galapogos Islands

I have been on safaris in South African and seen the big 5, but the Galapagos Islands would be a dream come true, a chance to see some of the diverse animal life that inhabit there, to retrace the footsteps of Charles Darwin. Both my wife and are keen wildlife photographers, although she is much better than me, and this would be a greta opportunity to capture some new species.

3 Visit Lambeau Field

I have been a Green Bay Packers fan ever since I started watching American Football back in 1983. I love their history, that the team is owned by the town and not some billionaire. I've been to many great stadiums, but I will always think of Lambeau Field as the home of football and a greta sporting venue. I did have a chance to go back in 2008 when Green Bay played the Giants in the NFC Championship Game, when the temperature was -28F at kick-off. Unfortunately we couldn't get any accommodation within reasonable distance of the stadium so I ended up not going which was probably not a bad outcome as Green Bay lost in overtime.

4 Complete a Triathalon

If I had created this list a few years back I would probably said I wanted to run a marathon, but having run 10 of these I think I'd like to complete a Triathalon. Not an Ironman with the full marathon as finish, but the Olympic distance where you swim for a mile, cycle for 40 km and then run 10k. I think that would do it for me.
5 Speak at in Front of 10,000 People

As a professional speaker I have had the opportunity to speak in front of audiences ranging from small groups of 10 up to larger audience of around 1000 people. But I have never spoken at an event where the crowd was truly massive, and I know that given the energy and buzz yo get from speaking in front of just a 1000 people to speak in from of ten times that amount must be awesome.

6 - See The Northern Lights

The Northern Lights are a thing of beauty, and if you're going to see them then I think the best place to see them is either from a deck of a ship out on the ocean or from the land in Iceland. I have always been intrigued by this natural phenomena and I would love to be able to take some great picture of it.

7 - Learn To Play An Instrument

This is probably the hardest thing on the bucket list as it can take years to learn to play an instrument. When I was younger I did learn to play the Trumpet, although that was somewhat badly, but it might be a good place to start. I would love to be able to play the piano, as I think its great when people just start playing and get everyone to sing along. I guess the first step here would be to pick an instrument.

8 - Hear My Son Play At The Hollywood Bowl

My son Daniel is a professional singer/songerwriter/guitarist and I have seen him play live in different venues, but I would love to see him play on a big stage like the Hollywood Bowl, or somewhere like Glastonbury. I love his music, and would love to see him be successful.

9 - Tap Dance On Stage

When I was 30 I gave up playing rugby, for the first time, and in order to keep fit I didn't want to go down the gym or go jogging so I took up Tap Dancing. Gene Kelly had just passed and in his honour I decided to take some lesson and learn to tap. I did it for about 2 years on and off, I still have the tap shoes, and it's something that I really enjoyed to do. I would love to take it back up again and actually perform a tap dance on stage. My favourite tap dancers are the the Nicholas Brothers, but to be honest even in my youth I couldn't even do 1% of what they could achieve.

10 - Learn Spanish

As I already speak French vey well, the jump to learn Spanish doesn't seem that very far, and given that it's one of the three major languages of the world it would make sense to learn it and to try and become fluent.
We have lots of Spanish speaking friends so the opportunities to practice would be available, it's just a question of starting. I did try and learn Italian and enough progress to deal with some holiday situations, so it's just a question of finding the time and starting.

Life is short, and it would be a shame to regret not having at least tried to achieve so of the dreams that we have. By creating this list I have now given life to some of these ideas and hopefully that will help me spring in to action.
What are the things that you would like to do before it's too late. I would love to hear what you'd like to achieve it might give me some ideas or remind me of some of the things that I have missed.
