The 39th Annual NABJ (National Association of Black Journalists) Convention and Career Fair will be held in Boston from July 30th through August 3rd.

Here are 10 Things you should know about it:

1. It's not just for journalists. Also in attendance are media executives, public relations professionals, and students, Folks will network, get professional development, and celebrate excellence in journalism.

2. There is a film festival and the person who I am most excited about is neither Black nor a media professional, it's the yummy Kevin Costner who will be in attendance for a discussion of the movie, Black and White, also starring Octavia Spencer, debuting at NABJ.

3. There are lots of non-black folk there as participants, panelists, and vendors.

4. When folks ask about a white journalism convention, I just tell them that is what most journalism conventions are.

5. NABJ was formed in 1975 by 44 journalists, the first convention was in Washington D.C. the late Max Robinson was one of the founders.

6. There is an app, search for guidebooks in android and ios.

7. #NABJ15 is in St. Paul, Minnesota.

8. NABJ has more than 3,000 members and more than one-third are expected to be in attendance at the conference.

9. There is swag in the exhibit hall of the conference.

10. There are always surprise appearances. #NABJ14
