100th Grandchild Henry Urich Born To Family In Grande Prairie, Canada

Couple Celebrates Birth Of 100th Grandchild

Henry Urich became the 100th grandchild of a Canadian couple this month.

The Daily Herald Tribune reports that Viktor and Aneta Urich or Grande Prairie, Canada, were thrilled nine months ago when they learned their daughter-in-law, Tatjana was pregnant.

"We were happy and we were waiting for it," Victor told the paper. "We want to have a party in the church with all the family together."

Victor and Aneta, both in their early 60s, have 16 children. Their son Heinrich is the fifth oldest of the bunch.

While 100 grandchildren is no small feat, the Urich's aren't the only ones who made headlines by hitting this remarkable century mark. Back in 2005, the BBC reported on Norwegians Randi and Filip Bekkevold when they celebrated the birth of their 100th grandchild.

But neither the Urich's nor the Bekkevold's can hold a candle to Bai Ulan of the Philippines. As Reuters reported in October, the widow now has 107 grandchildren and 138 great-grandchildren. Perhaps most amazingly, Ulan said she still remembers all the youngsters' names.
