No matter how many improvements are made to transportation methods, there's something undeniably appealing about old-school train travel. One of rail travel's most appealing aspects is that it's almost universal -- nearly anywhere you go in the world, there's some kind of train service. You could go chugging through the British countryside on an old steam locomotive or rolling through snow-caked Russian terrain on the Trans-Siberian - there are plenty of famous train trips for travel enthusiasts to dream about.
Sometimes, however, it really is about the destination and not the journey - and this in case, the destinations are the exceptional train stations around the world. The stations featured here go a step beyond what you'd usually expect from a train station - newsstands, fast food vendors, etc. - and offer a bit of eye-candy as well as serving a practical purpose.
