11-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Stabs Boy In Wisconsin

An 11-year-old girl in Madison, Wis., allegedly stabbed a male victim after a playful scuffle turned violent.

The altercation took place outside of a Madison residence, where the two children were engaging in friendly horseplay, Madison.com reports.

"The girl and boy were chasing and pushing each other, and he reportedly had a water spray bottle with him," police spokesman Joel DeSpain told Madison.com.

The girl became enraged, according to authorities, and went into a nearby residence. She allegedly exited the house with a paring knife with a "three- or four-inch blade" hidden in a T-shirt, according to Madison.com and WKOW.

She then allegedly stabbed the boy in the abdomen, DeSpain said.

The victim, 11, was taken to a nearby hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspected stabber was taken to the Dane County Juvenile Reception Center and arraigned Monday on a charge of recklessly endangering safety while using a dangerous weapon, WKOW reported.

Assistant Dane County District Attorney Michael Walsh told WKOW that he does not believe that the girl had an intent to kill.

This is the second crime involving children that has occurred in Madison in as many weeks.

On July 7, 13-year-old Elijah Canada allegedly stabbed his 21-year-old brother, resulting in injuries that required treatment in an intensive care unit, a local Fox outlet reported.

Neighbors in Madison are understandably concerned by the outbreak of juvenile crime.

Resident Michelle McNeal told WKOW Saturday, "As parents, we just need to be more aware of what's going on."
