Donald Trump has been elected the next president of the United States, and people across social media are mourning. Many black people, women, immigrants, poor people, queer people and all people of color in this country are horrified by Trump’s win and its potential ramifications.

But there’s still hope. Maybe. Platitudes like “it’s going to be OK” or “we’ve survived this, we can survive anything” may seem pretty empty right now, especially for the black people who see Trump’s win as a confirmation of America's deeply embedded racism.

But we have to start somewhere. We have to remember to take care of ourselves and each other, build community, and hopefully weather whatever oncoming storm that’s coming.
