I'm a daddy's girl. There, I said it. Not in the spoiled, "Daddy, buy me a beamer," Cher Horowitz type of way, but in the way that my dad is hands-down my number one hero, and I know that he's my biggest fan, too.

A daughter's relationship with her dad is so special. In fact, so special to my sister that we often joke how she can never be his health surrogate because he would be forced to live forever. A dad is the man that every guy who enters her life will be compared to, and a daughter is a dad's little princess, despite how big of a pain-in-the a** she can be at times.

In honor of my Dad's birthday, my sister and I are sharing some of the most important, invaluable and ridiculous lessons my amazing, hysterical, hard-working dad has taught me.

.Don't take yourself too seriously.

.No one is looking at you.

.Be your own boss.

.If you eat lox for breakfast, prepare to taste it all day.

.Going bald is not a bad thing.

.Dogs are people too.

.Speaking of people, sometimes they suck, but they are who they are. End of story.

.Sh*t or get off the pot.

.If you try and run away from home, pack more than Beanie Babies in your suitcase. Dad knows you're bluffing.

.It's OK to spend a lot of money when it's on wine and good food.

.Paying dues is an ugly reality, but if you stay strong, you'll have the last laugh in the end.

.Nothing is stupider, or more comforting, than a good, old-fashioned daddy joke.

.Your dad always has your back, even when you really piss him off.

.You don't have appendicitis; you have gas.

.This too shall pass.
