20 Hawaii Historic Sites: State Issues Own List Of Historic Places (PHOTOS,POLL)

Forget UNESCO, Hawaii's tourism board has created its own list of heritage sites, according to Jaunted.

The list includes national historic sites and parks that offer views of the ocean, former royal palaces, and national monuments. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is on the list (it boasts Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes), so is Pearl Harbor, but also more remote locations like the place where Captain Cook first landed on the Big Island and plenty of waterfalls.

Visitors can DIY tour these spots through a downloadable guide on the Hawaii tourism website.
