The Broadmoor Hotel is hosting the 2011 U.S. Women's Open from July 4-10 on its East Golf Course.

This year's U.S. Women's Open will host 156 professionals and amateurs with more than 125,000 spectators.

The course was designed by Donald Ross and Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and completed in 1918. It is known for its wide tree-lined fairways and large greens set against a backdrop of Colorado Springs' mountains.

According to the Broadmoor, the course was one of only 12 North American and Caribbean golf courses to receive a five-star rating by Golf Digest. The course is also featured this year on Golf Digest's "America's 100 Greatest" list.

Today Honorary chair Annika Sorenstam, who won the 1995 U.S. Women's Open at the Broadmoor, will also be explaining golf techniques on the practice range.
