The CFDA Fashion Awards recognize excellence in design, journalism and creative vision. This year, however, it will honor something a bit more social.

Instagram is among the recipients of this year's awards, marking the first time a brand will take the CFDA's coveted Media Award home. Previous winners in this category have included famed fashion critic Cathy Horyn and fashion photographers Scott Schuman and Garance Doré. Awarding the prize to the social media company makes sense, since the photo-sharing app has basically revolutionized the fashion industry.

In addition to the usual suspects like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who are nominated in the womenswear and accessory categories for The Row, the duo behind Public School, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, received some huge news. The brand, which has previously only been recognized for men's clothing, is nominated for both menswear and womenswear this year. Betsey Johnson will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

The ceremony will take place on June 1. From the looks of these nominees, a nearly nude Rihanna might not make an appearance this year, but we do expect to see cartwheels and plenty of selfies. Click here to see the entire list of nominees.
