Feeling blue?

While I am not referring to the idiomatic expression of being sad, I do want to take a moment to extend my sympathies to the Swiss fans who are no doubt feeling blue after learning that their beloved star, Roger Federer, has withdrawn from this year's French Open after failing to recover from a back injury. As the winner of the 2009 French Open, this will be the first Grand Slam tournament the tennis star has missed this century. Get well Roger!

But back to the red clay.

The match itself can be just as important as the fashion (at least if you ask an apparel sponsor). This year, it's all about blue. You will see the likes of Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams sporting various shades of blue in the form of crew neck T-shirts and pleated skirts, respectively. This year, various brands from Nike to New Balance have carefully curated tennis attire that is not only visually pleasing but functional. The majority of outfits for this Grand Slam will fall in the category of sophisticated with minimal distractions.

If you are one of the lucky few to be visiting Paris during the tournament held May 22 - June 5 and scored a ticket to one of the matches, well then, the rest of us will be green with envy.
