'24' Movie Dead? Director Antoine Fuqua Says The Project Is Done

The "24" movie is dead, according to its one-time director Antoine Fuqua.

“Yeah, that’s not happening," Fuqua said IndieWire. "I don’t think it’s gonna happen at all, definitely not with me."

The "24" movie has been rumored -- and discussed -- for some time since Kiefer Sutherland hung up his Jack Bauer gun holster when the Fox series ended in 2010. In July 2012, Sutherland revealed there was a shooting schedule in place and the "24" flick would get up and running during his summer hiatus from "Touch."

"We didn’t have a script ready for that until very close to the end of 'Touch,'" Sutherland said in July 2012. "We knew we were coming back so there was a very finite window for me to make the film, to try to prep it, cast it and all of those other things. It was just unrealistic for Fox to try and make it, so they pushed it for next break.”

Fuqua said he met with Sutherland and Fox was game, but problems arose. "I don’t think he was able to get a proper agreement with Fox," Fuqua said. "The time just passed, and I went off to go to what I was doing.”

A representative for 20th Century Fox did not have a comment.
