Do you need to make appetizers for a sophisticated soiree but aren't in the mood to create an elegant tray of toasted brioche with crème fraiche and caviar? Here's an excellent recipe for 12 easy, delicious treats that only require three ingredients and take less than an hour to make.

Ingredients:

1 14-oz package wonton wrappers (found in the produce section in the grocery store)
5 oz. fresh grated parmesan cheese
1 cup (2 sticks) real butter (Don't you dare use margarine.)

Heat oven to 325 degrees. Cut wontons in half. Melt 1/4 cup butter in a large cookie sheet with edges. Place won ton strips in the butter (approximately 28 strips per pan) and turn over to coat both sides.

Sprinkle each pan with 1/4 of the grated parmesan cheese. This recipe makes four pans. (For a decadent sweet treat, substitute sugar and cinnamon instead of the cheese.)

Bake at 325 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Watch closely so they don't burn. Open a bottle of wine while you wait.

Cool on paper towels spread over newspaper. I prefer The Idaho Statesman.

Arrange the wonton appetizers on a festive platter and take to the nearest party. They magically disappear, and guests will clamor for the recipe. Tell them it's a complicated secret known only to the great chefs of Europe.
