No Bond For Man Charged With Fatally Stabbing 3-Year-Old Son

UPDATE 2: Gregory Sandifer, 27, has been charged in the stabbing death of his son Jaivon and the raping and stabbing of the boy's mother, Chicago Sun-Times reports. He has been charged with murder, aggravated domestic battery and criminal sexual assault. He remained hospitalized from an ankle injury sustained while attempting to evade Sunday. A mugshot is not currently available.

UPDATE: The 3-year-old stabbing victim has been identified as Jaivon Sandifer, NBC Chicago reports. The suspect in the stabbing is believed to be Sandifer's father. The boy was reportedly attacked in his bed. His mother, Margaret Jefferson, remained hospitalized Friday evening.

A 3-year-old boy was fatally stabbed and his mother was critically injured Friday morning during a domestic incident on Chicago's West Side.

Police were notified around 11:15 a.m. of the incident, which occurred in the 5000 block of West Division St., the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The boy was pronounced dead at 12:18 p.m., while his 25-year-old mother was hospitalized with critical injuries.

A suspect in the stabbing reportedly injured himself while trying to jump from a second-story window to attempt to avoid officers who were called to the scene, according to the Chicago Tribune. The man is currently in police custody.

Further details on the incident are not currently available and no charges have yet been made.
