Dating after divorce can be an extremely intimidating process. If it's been a while since you've dated, the thought of starting over again is the equivalent to having a root canal!

Often times people take dating after a divorce entirely too seriously. You are not looking to jump into a serious relationship, are you? Then dating should be fun and exciting, but it's up to you to create that for yourself. When you're ready to date, here are 4 suggestions to get your started:

1. Online dating websites- Many online dating sites offer free initial memberships to attract new members. This is a great feature to take advantage of! You will be asked to submit a photo and complete a profile to begin. Once your profile is completed , you will be free to explore the website, view members photo's and profiles. What's fantastic about online dating websites is... you're guaranteed to have a variety of other singles at your finger tips to chose from.

2. Speed Dating Event- Is an evening of meeting other singles in 3-5 minute increments. Sort of like a blind date, but at a marathon pace. If you're a "love at first sight" kind of person, this is perfect for you. Everyone knows what they do not want when they see it. This is a great way to weed out the "NO WAY'S." Giving you more time with the "Ya, that's a possibility."

3. Meet up events- These events are usually centered around a specific event, or an outing of common interest. They are also divided into groups, i.e. divorced looking to date, single parents, etc. Meet ups encourage face-to-face interaction, but in group settings. Finding a group in your area is as easy as Googling "meet up groups" and the city you live in. We have found that whether you are looking to date, or get out and socialize, this may be an avenue for you.

4. Match Makers- Match Makers can be an expensive avenue, but have proven to be useful for professionals who are too busy to do the leg work. Match Makers tend to be more useful to those who are looking for long term relationships, not just dating.

All four options above are fairly simple, but fun ones. Dating is not something you can rush, or should rush into. Take your time and have fun!
