Back in July, Instagram rolled out its highly anticipated comment filter. Time management is key to running a successful business so manually filtering through unwanted comments on every photo can slow down a company’s production rate. With Instagram’s new feature, you can enter target keywords or phrases that will disable an individual user from leaving derogatory messages under your photos. If you are not already utilizing this savvy new feature, let us give you a few reasons why taking advantage of Instagram’s comment filter can save your business.

Say Goodbye To Unwanted Spam

Is there anything worse than logging on to your Instagram page only to see your photos spammed by advertisers? By using the comment filter, you can now add phrases like “follow my page” or “check out my products!” to your blocked comments section to make sure the comments left under your business page reflect only your business and not someone else’s.

Say No To Abusive Speech

If you are a social media influencer or post about controversial topics, you may find your business page on the bad side of bullying comments. By allowing such comments to stay on your page, it can reflect that your company endorses hateful speech. Be proactive in disabling abusive language by blocking speech that attacks others.

Make Your Page Attractive To Potential Partners

Brands do lengthy research when trying to find social media influencers or business partners to work with. They may ask for several examples of similar posts to their style of branding. They may even peruse your page to see what your brand language may be like. Your followers reflect your language so make sure your potential partners are always seeing your business in its best light.

Don’t Trash Your Brand

We want our followers to leave honest reviews on our pages, especially when we are introducing new products or blog posts. Even still, the reviews that are left should be reflective to the messages you want shared about your company. While it is acceptable to allow disagreeing comments on topics or photos posted to your business page, it may also be necessary to block certain keywords and comments that can potentially harm how others view our brands. So, if you do not want to see comments left that say, “I HATE this product”, it would be wise to add that phrase to your blocked comment section.
