Facebook Groups are useful for any time you want to share something with just a small group of people (your best friends, family, teammates, etc.) instead of all of your Facebook friends. Here are five simple tips to get the most out of your Facebook Groups:

Post photos for your group

Did you just get back from a trip with your best friends or want to share photos from the last soccer game with the team? It's easy to upload photos to share with specific groups, instead of with everyone. Just select "Photos" from the top selection bar in your group and upload, just as you would an album on Facebook. Remember you can choose to make your group secret (only members see the group, who's in it, and what's posted), closed (anyone can see the group and who's in it, but only members can see the posts) or open (anyone can see the group, who's in it, and what's posted).

Adjust your notifications

You can control when you get a notification or email about the activity in your group. For instance, if you're in a group with your softball team, you'll likely want to be notified when practice gets cancelled due to weather. Alternatively, if you are a member of a particularly noisy group, or one you don't want to hear from as often, you can turn your notifications off and just check in whenever you're able instead of leaving the group entirely. To adjust your notifications, go to "Account Settings," and select "Notifications."

Share documents or spreadsheets

You can seamlessly and quickly share class notes, game schedules, or any files specific to your group. Right above your Composer -- the place where you write a post in a group -- you can select "Upload File." You'll can then browse documents on your computer to select and post it in the group for other members to see.

Find what you need, when you need it

Just like searching your inbox, you can also search within groups to find what you're looking for. This is particularly useful if you've had a long conversation or discussion within the group and want to revisit it. Simply click on the search icon in the upper right hand corner, type your search terms in the toolbar, and pull up all relevant information.

Chat with your group

Need someone to quickly volunteer hosting tonight's study session? Instantly message your group members to find out who might be available. In your group, press the * in the upper right-hand corner and select to "Send Message." Choose the members of the group you want to message and then click "Start Chat."
