Begin by reviewing your weekly routine to assess what needs to be changed and what is working for you. This will help you adjust your schedule or lifestyle to create more time to focus on your overall well-being -- body, mind and spirit.

Give your body the attention it deserves.

Your body needs sleep, regular exercise and proper nutrition to function optimally each day.

1. Sleep

Getting enough sleep allows the mind to rest and rejuvenate so that your waking hours are more productive and filled with optimism.

Studies show that sleep makes you happier, boosts your immune system, gives you healthier skin, strengthens your brain, balances your hormones, lowers your risk of injury, helps with your decision-making, can help you lose weight, and plays a vital role in your overall health.

Instead of sacrificing sleep because of the daily demands of your time, make sleep a priority.

2. Exercise

Making time for exercise each day provides both mental and physical health benefits. From taking a walk to hitting the gym, exercise can improve your life.

Some benefits include feeling better, controlling your weight, clearing your mind, boosting your energy, and preventing health problems.

Try to carve out at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, take the stairs instead of the elevator and even park at the back of the parking lots to get those extra steps in.

3. Eating Well

Take a mindful approach to eating and nourish your body with quality foods that are rich in nutrients and enzymes. It is important to know that the food you eat becomes a part of YOU.

Remove yourself from distractions so you can be present and enjoy your food.

Purchase certified organic and non GMO foods instead of processed and microwaveable foods that are depleted of nutrients and life. By feeding your body with healthy and nutrient-dense foods can benefit your overall well-being.

Balance your mind.

4. Meditate

The practice of meditation is an essential ingredient for becoming more self-aware and expanding your awareness: you'll know more clearly who you are, what you really want, and how you feel.

There are countless benefits of how meditating can improve your life which include helping you feel more connected, increases your emotional well-being, improves empathy and compassion, and increases your memory and attention to name just a few.

I had the opportunity four years ago to receive individual instruction from best selling author, Sarah McClean who is the founder of the Mclean Meditation Institute. Learning how to meditate and incorporating it in my daily routine has truly given me so many gifts. I strongly encourage you to start a daily meditation practice if you haven't done so already or if you have stopped your practice to reincorporate into your daily routine.

If you have trouble sitting still, try getting outdoors in nature and take a walking meditation. I found that walking on the beach and hiking centers me, brings me to oneness, grounds me, and helps me feel whole. For me, there is something about being outdoors that helps me connect even more with God and the Universe.

5. Silence

Our days can be filled with so much noise that sometimes it becomes overwhelming. Take a break from the tv, radio, phone, internet and other distractions to incorporate some silent time into your day.

Practicing silence enables you to effortlessly be - no walls, no division, simply the pure essence of you -- alive, loving and completely at peace.

By taking the time to adjust your schedule and making some lifestyle changes you will be better equipped to focus on your overall well-being to become One which helps you live a life where you can Thrive.
