Though Cabo San Lucas may evoke images of sugary margaritas and spring breakers fervidly consuming those said drinks, the popular city at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula contains a wealth of activities for every type of traveler. For Southern Californians, it’s the perfect weekend getaway; for others around the world, an opportunity to explore Mexico beyond its competitive Caribbean counterparts. The mountainous region of Los Cabos reveals sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez, made more enviable by properties perched high above it. There’s a reason the area is home to million dollar weddings, celebrity getaways, and a growing number of luxury properties.

Here are 5 ways to make your next Cabo visit a grown and sexy affair.

1. ENJOY LOCAL CUISINE WITH A STUNNING BACKDROP: At El Farallon, executive chef Yvan Mucharraz and his team offer a seafood market menu on a terrace that overlooks the crashing waves below. Reservations in advance are a must, and for good reason. Once diners place their order, they are whisked to a fish market displaying the catch of the day. Don’t miss the parrot fish ceviche or fresh crab and chipotle soup. Only dimly lit torches and the moon light the way , making it one of the most romantic experiences in Cabo.

2. CHASE BEACH BLISS: Though not exactly under the radar, a water taxi to Lover’s Beach is worth the visit. During the ride, you can spot Cabo’s greatest landmark, El Arco, a stunning limestone rock formation jutting from the Sea of Cortez. At Lover’s Beach, sunbathers can enjoy the golden sand, shaded by coves and a few relaxed seals. About nine miles east of Cabo, Chileno beach is a tranquil option without the fuss of crowds and boats.

3. HIRE A PRIVATE BUTLER. At the adults-only, all-inclusive Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort, it’s a personalized affair. At its newly launched Towers at Pacifica— complete with 47 rooms and suites, some with private plunge pools — guests are welcomed by a private butler who can assist in settling on the property, spa reservations at Armonia spa, reservations at five restaurants, and even an assortment of pillow options.

Do not miss the “Hook and Cook” experience, where an early morning fishing lesson leads to an intimate ceviche cooking class and lunch. Tower guests can also enjoy a private beach dinner under the stars, an insider’s guide to the best street food in Cabo, and a whale watching VIP lounge.

4. SIP A WELL-CRAFTED COCKTAILS: Skip the disappointment of watered down all-inclusive drinks and head to Acre in San Jose del Cabo. The restaurant is situated on a 25-acre farm and offers some of Los Cabos’ most inventive cocktails. Try the Beso Katrina, a sweet and smoky concoction composed of mezcal, lime, pineapple, hibiscus syrup, and oregano, curated by Canadian chef Dani Tatarin. There is also a mezcal tasting room and full food menu.

5. SUNBATHE ON A PRIVATE BOAT. Take to the sea in style with La Isla Day Tours. The company offers private catamarans for both large and small groups— complete with a personal guide and your favorite playlist. Book an escape and enjoy a day on the sea with sun beds, snorkel gear, and of course, drinks.
