There are lots of things any computer programmer beginner should know when he or she wants to excel in the programming world. It does no matter the programming language or type of project the programmer has decided to take. The following tips will provide any aspiring computer programmer solid fundamental knowledge in computer programming. There are lots of things any beginners should know but this five stood out!

1. Never Get Into Computer Programming If you Don’t Love it!

Though it sounds a bit harsh, the first tip goes beyond the range of programming and pertains to the general life. However, it is important we mention it here too.

In case you do not have lots of interest into programming, never get into it! Try choosing a totally different profession. It is that simple. Computer programming requires lots of hours if not days sitting in front of your computer figuring out, rewriting codes and debugging until it works. However, when it works, you will still need to improve on it.

The technology world or rather the world of programming is every growing and you will always need to educate yourself with the latest updates in order to remain relevant in the market. All these require passion, motivation and enthusiasm. If you are motivated with the money since you heard somewhere that being a programmer brings easy money then please do not get into computer programming.

2. Computer Programming Solves and Commands Problems

Never look at programming as a set of instructions and commands. Instead look at it as a tool that will help you solve your problems. That is what computer programming really means. It is just but a problem solving tool nothing more. The commands and functions are all details which come into effect whenever you have decided to solve a problem. This is an important part that any beginners in computer programming needs to understand since most are known to have a tendency of jumping into details without sparing some time to think about the problem. There are some who even doesn’t have an idea of what the problem is and have already decided to loop.

3. Always Understand the Problem You are Trying to Solve before Solving it

You should try and understand the problem you are trying to solve before you program anything. If it sounds simple, then you are definitely right. However, as we have stated above, most of the beginner programmers never follow it. There is always a great joy when it comes to writing a program that is able to solve a particular program. However, the great feeling can become addictive to the point that you want to solve the problem without you understanding it.

4. Always Keep Your Code Clean and Organized

The spaghetti codes are a sin! Never try complicating what can be done in a few steps. Most of the beginner programmers are known to have a tendency of over problematic issues simply because they love or are interested in writing codes. This is because they are always passionate about programming. However, they need to learn to control the passion.

Try to keep the codes clean. You should be able to see all your code without having to scroll to the right all the time. The codes should be short and nice.

  • Keep the blocks organized

Most code editors these days will help you organize your blocks. However, it is important you stay aware of how organized your code is.

5. As a Beginner, Stick with One Language before Moving to Others

As a beginner, you need to start from one language before moving onto the others. You need to dedicate at least two years in learning a programming language until you fully understand it. Moving onto another language will never be difficult if you have fully understood your first programming language. The secret is that most of the computer programming languages have similarities. However, there are syntaxes that will differ here and there and there are functions that will have different names.

With the every advancing technological and scientific world, computer programming is considered to be the most diverse and flexible career where one needs to frequently be updated with the latest market requirements in order to remain relevant in the market. The five tips listed above will help any aspiring computer programmer beginner to write great codes that can easily be understood and edited whenever there is a problem.
