Take the #AmericaIsKind Challenge Day 2 to support the Humane Society!

Take the #AmericaIsKind Challenge Day 2 to support the Humane Society!

The purpose of the #AmericaIsKind Challenge is simple:

We want to spread gratitude & acts of good while highlighting the work of great charities.

We want to start a wildfire kindness and positivity online and in everyday life.

So if you are tired of negativity, strife & division—especially on social media—

Take the #AmericaIsKind Challenge!

- Feel GRATITUDE

- Do GOOD

- SHARE KINDNESS on social media by posting your gratitudes & acts of good on social media and tagging 3-5 friends to participate in the #AmericaIsKind Challenge

The theme of DAY TWO of the #AmericaIsKind Challenge is PETS, and our Charity of the Day is the Humane Society of the United States.

Of course you are familiar with the Humane Society for local shelters and pet adoption, but do you know about their disaster response, mobile veterinary clinics, street dog program, animal rescues and wildlife protection programs? Or that the Humane Society globally cares for 100,000+ animals per year? Learn more at www.HumaneSociety.org.

“Our most important goal is to prevent animals from getting into situations of distress in the first place. We confront the largest national and international problems facing animals, which local shelters don't have the reach or the resources to take on...We are the nation’s largest and most effective animal protection organization, and provide hands-on care and services to more than 100,000 animals each year.”

#AmericaIsKind Day 2: Pets

GRATITUDE: I am thankful for the love of a current or former pet

I am grateful for the love of this little guy, Oxley the Welsh Terrier, who is my little writing and cuddle buddy.

ACTS OF GOOD

Good: Post a photo or video of your pet and share a funny or inspirational story about how they’ve helped you through a tough time

Aside from being super-cute, Oxley always knows just when I need extra love. When I was writing Post-Traumatic Church Syndrome, he would curl up at my feet OR jump on my desk and sit next to the computer (depending on how well/badly the writing was going). He is my furry guardian angel.

Good: On social media, tag all the pet lovers you know and remind them to give their animals special treats and cuddles today. While you’re at it, give your own fur baby extra love

Good: Offer to walk a neighbor’s dog or watch their cat while they are away

Good: If you want a pet, consider adoption at your local Humane Society first. If you have already adopted a pet, share your story online with the Humane Society and on social media

Good: Help your local Humane Society: Volunteer your time, donate pet food, sign the pledge to Be Cruelty Free, or give a monthly contribution

Once you’ve done one of these things, share your gratitude and kindness on social media and tag 3-5 friends to take the #AmericaIsKind Challenge.

Use hashtags #AmericaIsKind and/or #GratefulToGood

My journey through 30 religions is where I found that KINDNESS and GRATITUDE are two things that unite all faiths. We may not agree on religious rituals, politics, or much else...but we all agree our world needs more LOVE. The #AmericaIsKind Challenge was born out of my desire to share the qualities that bring us together, and spread a wildfire of kindness, gratitude and good instead of negativity and division.
