600-Pound Man Cut From Home During Medical Emergency

Firefighters used chainsaws, Hazmat suits and a flatbed truck to cut and haul out a 600-pound man from his Pennsylvania home.

The unidentified obese man was stuck inside on Monday afternoon, but needed to go to a hospital, WPXI-TV reported in a video.

It took a group effort to break in -- the mess in the Upper Burrell Township home was so bad that there was no clear path to the man.

"Police came and knocked all the windows out but they didn't hear from him, so then Hazmat came cause it was deemed too toxic to go in by the fire department," neighbor Lee Hanyo told the station. "They had to figure out a way to cut him out so they used electric chainsaws to cut a hole in the house and pull him out."

Firefighters used a pulley system to lift the 600-pound man out of the home and placed him on a flatbed truck, the New York Daily News reported. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.

"It shouldn't have come to that," Hanyo told WPXI-TV, an NBC affiliate. "But at least they got him out."
