7 Management Shortcuts That Aren't Worth Your Time

We all like to save a little time. Every manager has their own tips for making sure that projects are completed before deadline. It's called time management right? Except not every shortcut is helpful. Some of them lead to subpar performance and overlooked errors. Shortcuts, by their very definition, mean that you're trying to get around the hard work. Unfortunately, that work normally has a purpose.

The difficult, nitty-gritty work prepares you to succeed. If you want to see what happens when you don't do your homework, look at Governor Rick Perry's recent debate performance. Forgetting a major part of your policy proposal is a pretty big, "Oops." In a company presentation, it would be embarrassing. On a national stage, it could ruin a candidacy. Either way, it proves that the prep work can be just as important as the performance.
