Africa is beginning to become a hotbed for style stars and emerging fashion designers. And South Africa in particular is leading the way.

Johannesburg and Cape Town have been home to successful brands like David Tlale and Gavin Rajah, but there are also smaller labels churning out collections that are making us take notice.

We rounded up seven of those must-have South African brands, each with craftsmanship and eye-catching design at its core. Check them out below and let us know which ones you're loving.

Launched in 2005, this Johannesburg-based designer is helming one of the most popular brands in South Africa. Sindi has won numerous awards for his modern and sophisticated designs.

Owner Katherine-Mary was inspired to launch the brand after visiting India. However, each single piece of the bold, eye-catching jewelry and handbags is handcrafted in Cape Town.
