Illinois Man, 80, Accidentally Donates $13,000 To Goodwill

80-Year-Old Man Accidentally Gives Away $13,000 To Goodwill

When an Illinois man donated a few old suits to Goodwill, he didn't bother checking the pockets for loose change or receipts. But when he got home, the do-gooder realized that along with the old threads, he had accidentally given over $13,000, WQAD News reports.

The 80-year-old Moline, Ill. man -- who asked not to be identified -- told the organization that the money was stuffed inside the pockets of one of the suits. Employees at the local Goodwill and the Iowa City headquarters have been scouring the racks, but no cash has turned up just yet.

The man, whose wife has stage 4 cancer, is offering a $1000 reward to whoever returns the money, no questions asked, according to WQAD News. The family has declined donations, but are grateful for Goodwill's help and "the outpouring of generosity from around the world."
