New York Fashion Week: '80s Crimped Hair At Betsey Johnson, Monique Lhuillier And More (PHOTOS)

The '80s Hairstyle That Took Over Fashion Week

Just as we finally built up the nerve to toss all awkward hair accessories from our bathroom drawers and cabinets, New York Fashion Week has provided us with a valid excuse to hold onto one of our favorite '80s hair tools: the crimping iron.

Betsey Johnson celebrated her 70th birthday with mini-me models wearing super-teased, crimped hair as they danced down the runway. TIGI global creative director Nick Irwin created a "Japanese schoolgirl-gone-zombie" look for Chris Benz, complete with brushed-out braids and a sumo knot at the crown. Meanwhile, backstage fixture Odile Gilbert mimicked mermaid waves at Thakoon and Monique Lhuillier, slicking back the front section of strands using a generous amount of Kérastase's new hair oil, Elixir Ultime The Imperial (and a woven horizontal layer of bobby pins towards the back of the head at Thakoon's show). Who knew crimped hair could look so classy?

Click through the slideshow below to see these crimped hairstyles, and tell us in the comments section which look is your favorite.
