She's an Amazon Bestselling Author and she's only in the third grade, can you believe it? Jakayla Green is a 9-year-old, straight A student who has accomplished something many adults still dream of doing. She is the Author of Daddy's Girl and we got the chance to speak with her.

Elle: Tell us more about Daddy's Girl.

Jakayla: Daddy's Girl is about a time in my life when my dad and my mom separated and my dad moved out the house. It was heartbreaking for me because he wasn't going to be living with me anymore.

Elle: Why did you write this book?

Jakayla: I usually journal things that make me feel sad, so I decided to write the book because I wanted other boys and girls to know how I felt.

Elle: What do you want people to learn from this book?

Jakayla: I want them to know that just because someone you love moves away it doesn't mean that they don't love you and it doesn't mean that you can’t spend time together. It may just mean that it's time for them to take a break.

Elle: What is the relationship like between you and your dad today?

Jakayla: My dad and I have a great relationship. He's back home and we get to spend a lot of time together. My family is back together and I am happy!

Whether you are young or old, married, divorced or single; Jakayla's story holds an age-old truth that like the Pheonix we can all arise from the ashes of our past.
