Existential pop band Razors, led by Lauren Sara and Ben Amanna, is making music that defies genres. The artists reference a wide array of influences, from Charles Mingus to Roberta Flack and Johnny Cash to Janis Joplin. Their music has undertones of classic hip-hop beats and just a hint of modern day pop, and it seamlessly mixes live instrumentation, electronic elements, and old, obscure vocal samples. The lyrics and subject matter are sometimes dark, sometimes light, but always diving deep to explore core elements of human nature. The goal of these artists is to "just make truthful music," and they are highly collaborative, co-writing and co-producing everything together out of their own recording studio. Here is the debut of their first music video.
