'A Day With HIV' Aims To Fight Stigma And Raise AIDS Awareness

LOOK: A Personal Fight Against HIV/AIDS Stigma, One Day -- And Photo -- At A Time

Sept. 21 marked the annual celebration of " A Day With HIV," a day each year that seeks to combat the stigma of HIV/AIDS through a collective series of personal photographs and portraits.

Organized by Positively Aware magazine, the annual initiative intends to generate awareness about the impact of HIV on us all and the ways in which we can contribute to changing perceptions surrounding the disease.

"On Sept. 21st, 2013, nearly 170 people in 11 countries on five continents took their best shot against HIV," organizers for the event told The Huffington Post, "Whether they were HIV-positive or negative, they photographed a moment of their day and shared their lives for 'A Day with HIV,' Positively Aware’s anti-stigma campaign."
