What a party! What a night! The 14th Annual Global Green Pre-Oscar Gala and concert was a terrific success. It not only got a lot of great and caring people together but it also reminded us (even those who weren’t there) of the wonderful things people are doing to protect our planet, which includes all people, places and environment that are part of this big ball of beauty that is hurtling through space.

The gala was held at the fabulous TAO Hollywood on Wednesday, February 22, and over 300 guests attended. Some familiar names and notable celebrities showed up including, film director- Oliver Stone, Academy Award winners Jeff Bridges and Jane Fonda, Orlando Bloom, actors Ed Begley, Jr., Ed O’Neill, James Van Der Beek, Peter Mensah, Kimberly Brook, Laura Linda Bradley, Priscilla Monnier, Julia Jackson, Jenna Ortega, Sharon Lawrence, Madeliane Petsch, Linsy Fonseca, Garcelle Beauvais, singers, Cody Simpson, Paula Abdul and Taylor Dayne, and John Salley, Natasha Duffy, Dianna Cohen, Ryan Brown, Douglas Stoup, Dominic MBenga, LaShanna Spann, Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks, Rachel Griffiths, designer Phillip Bloch and President and CEO of Global Green USA, Les McCabe, to name just a few.

The super entertainment was provided by the popular singer Estelle and musician/singer Cody Simpson. The celebrity speakers included Jeff Bridges, Oliver Stone, Ed Begley, Jr., Orlando Bloom and Jane Fonda. It was a fantastic night for everyone and a rewarding evening for Global Green USA. Global Green is an unsung hero in the fight for the “global value shift toward a sustainable and secure future.” That, of course, is the mission of Global Green and all the attendees of the gala, along many, many more, believe in and actively promote that mission in any way that they can.

To quote from the Global Green website: www.globalgreen.org “Global Green is a national leader in advancing sustainable and resilient communities. We green cities, schools, and affordable housing to help protect human health, improve livability, and support our planet's natural systems in an effort to stem climate change.”

Global Green has been around since 1993 and has 30 national offices. It is the United States arm of Green Cross International, which was founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mikhail Gorbachev and has been successfully been targeting environmental issues ever since. It is also known as the “Red Cross for the Environment.
