A Letter To The Teen One Week Before GCSE Exams Start

Chloe you are on the verge of that first exam. Less than one week to go until GCSE's really take hold and I can still remember the pained look on your face when I said that you were going to St Peters. It was our first choice secondary school but not yours. You wanted to go to the school at the end of our road, the one your best friend was going to. I told you, that if you really were best friends that it wouldn't matter which schools you were at. I was right - on both accounts. St Peters was the right school for you and you quickly settled, in fact you thrived. And that friend - she is still here and what's more she will be joining you for sixth form. What fun you two will have over the next few years - I dread to think about what is coming once you two are back in each others pockets! Sixth form is simply, the best time. I loved it. At times it wasn't easy but still I look back to the majority of it with a huge smile spread across my face. It was a time to meet new people and to enjoy going out - simply the best days. It is the days that you change the most, you grow in independence, you will get a job and have more money of your own and you will probably meet more boys and start dating! Let's see how dad copes with that one!

But before all that we just need to get through this next month of exams. You have prepared yourself well, we couldn't have asked for much more. You deserve to do well, lets just hope for a few nice questions now you know the difference between conception and contraception! We will gloss over science if it doesn't go your way, you got it last year so one out of two isn't too bad. You will do better than me and your dad ever did and for that we are proud.

I keep pinching myself that we have got this far and we all still like each other. You have done everything we wanted and whatever the outcome now - we know that you have given it your all. You could not have made us prouder - no matter what that results slip reports in August.

I am so looking forward to taking you away next month and sipping a few cocktails as we lounge around the pool just me and you. We have joked before that we are not best friends, I am your mum not your mate. I have my own best friends like you have yours but I cannot wait to spend a week lazing with you. So for the next month the fridge will be stocked with super brain foods, everyone is rooting for you, we are at your beck and call whilst you plough through.

We think your ace, we couldn't be prouder so just go and do your stuff
