When I was a child, my parents sent me to India every summer to spend time with family and learn about my motherland. These trips took me to several Indian states and I discovered a lot about this complex nation. Still, it wasn't until I married into a Kerala family that I learned about Kerala. Now, the more time I spend here, the more I want to stay.

I admit to originally thinking that the Kerala Tourism Board's motto of "God's Own Country" was highly presumptuous. However, as I became familiar with Kerala, I realized that it is a place all its own. I have yet to experience a place as diverse and enchanting. I am a cynic no longer. In Kerala, life is lived in the open, the landscape is breathtaking at every turn, and there is always a curious face.
