Yes, you heard it right. The world’s first real-life meeting of Wizard Schools takes place this May at a 16th century castle in Poland

Two and a half years ago, the Harry Potter inspired live action role play event College of Wizardry gained worldwide attention. Participants came from all over the world to live the life of witches and wizards for an extended weekend at a fairytale castle in Poland.

“Magic is something from fairytales and books, but at The College of Witchcraft and Wizardry, magic, for a brief moment of your life, becomes real.”

Evan Healy, Participant, College of Wizardry

Since then, the phenomenon has spread, and two other wizard schools have opened their doors, with a third to follow this August: The Bothwell School of Witchcraft in England. The kickstarter for their first event sold out after raising 70,000 pounds in less than an hour. Magic may not be real, but immersion into a world of magic and mystery is definitely very real.

“I may have returned to a mundane world, but that does not mean that I returned to it the same person I entered play as. I have learned so much from this that I don’t think I can probably ever say I’ll be the same person I was before.”

  • Cheyenne Procenko, Participant, College of Wizardry

This May, the organizers behind the wizard school events - the American LearnLarp and the Polish/Danish Dziobak Larp Studios - band together to create a tournament for the three existing schools. 190 participants. Thursday-Sunday. One crazy adventure.

“The Challenge is a magical tournament like no other. For the Witcharding World, it is like the Football World Cup, The Super Bowl and the Olympic games all rolled into one.”

And the best part? The event is newcomer-friendly, so don’t worry if you’ve never done an interactive event like this before. Will you take up the wand?
