The process for beginning to update the Communications Act launched with a call for stakeholders and the public to give feedback on what updates should be considered as a part of what will be a dynamic conversation that impacts our nation's communications infrastructure.

The last update to the Communications Act took place 18 years ago, at a time when the industry it continues to regulate was much different. In the wake of recent court decisions around vital communications issues like Network Neutrality, the jumpstarting of this revision process is timely. The conversation will include debate upon important matters integral to moving forward for education, government and industry.

Stakeholders are invited to give comments through January 31, 2014. For startup companies, particularly those looking to innovate in the civic sector, clarity on key issues that impact the startup community, such as those referenced here, will be a necessary part of any modernization.
