The retro-cool feel of Josiah & The Bonnevilles' music brings as much joy to your ears as those countless Nicolas Cage memes do for your eyes. Led by young Josiah Leming, the music off the band's Cold Blood off Vagrant Records is a throwback to Americana tracks of yesteryear with some darkness hidden behind the melodies -- it's essential roots rock meets Brit-pop as the singer/songwriter boasts. The album, by the way, was inspired by the likes of Townes Van Zandt and Leonard Cohen. The band (guitarist Stephen Johnson and bassist/percussionist Josh Nyback make up JTB) recently performed two tracks off the EP and sat down for a chat. Watch the beauty unfold below, and keep an eye out for these guys. Their music literally transports you to an often bygone era -- one in which the words have as much meaning as the music itself.

Rachael Sage is the epitome of a "Renaissance woman." The singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist is a former dancer, who attended The School Of American Ballet and danced with The New York City Ballet. She'd eventually leave behind the Balanchine, and focus on music, and has since shared stages with everyone from Sarah McLachlan to Judy Collins. She's also received numerous awards for her songwriting, and a bunch of placements in a variety of television shows including, and very fittingly, Dance Moms -- Sia's go-to-dancer Maddie Ziegler performed to her tracks. Oh, and she also runs her own music label MPress Records. Talk about wearing a lot of hats...

Anyway, Sage just dropped a new album entitled Choreographic, which plays off the themes of her dance career. At the Music Conservatory of Westchester (filmed by Alye Bea), she performed some tunes from it and spent 13 minutes talking about her career with thisguy (releases, the keys, and points to himself). Watch on, and enjoy.

A-Sides' "Delve Into Twelve" Countdown
Each week A-Sides unleashes its top 12 tracks of the week AKA the "Delve Into Twelve" based on the following contributing factors: songs I'm playing out that particular week (no matter when they were released -- think overlooked songs, unreleased tracks and old favorites), songs various publicists are trying to get me to listen to that I did and dug a bunch, song posts and trends I've noticed on my friends' Facebook walls and, most importantly: what my toddler is currently enjoying thoroughly with an assist from my infant.

About A-Sides with Jon Chattman - thisisasides.com :
Jon Chattman's music/entertainment series typically features celebrities and artists (established or not) from all genres performing a track, and discussing what it means to them. This informal series focuses on the artist making art in a low-threatening, extremely informal (sometime humorous) way. No bells, no whistles -- just the music performed in a random, low-key setting followed by an unrehearsed chat. In an industry where everything often gets overblown and over manufactured, Jon strives for a refreshing change. Artists featured on the series include Imagine Dragons, Melissa Etheridge, Yoko Ono, Joe Perry, Alice Cooper, fun, Bleachers, Charli XCX, Marina and the Diamonds, and Bastille.
