Kevin Arnold and Paul Pfeiffer. Ace and Gary. Tomax. Xamot perhaps? Throughout pop culture history, there have been some dynamic duos and some, well, rather lackluster ones. Nothing against the G.I.Joe twins, but let's focus on the former. Timeflies are a New York-by-way-of-Boston tandem who are breaking out like zits that once found shelter on Arnold and Pfeiffer's respective faces.

Cal Shapiro and Rob "Rez" Resnick have been making a steady fame climb since producing music and performing together at Tufts U. They dropped Timeflies' debut LP in 2011, and put out a few EPS since - the last two of which One Night and Warning Signs - got - to quote a faux Nic Cage - "high praise." Their new album After Hours dropped April 29, and
follows their previous signature pop stylings which has elements of hip hop, rock, and everything else. There are several surefire hits on the album notably radio hit "I Choose U" and "All The Way," which was heard in this season's American Idol and in Kevin Hart's About Last Night. A week before the album's release, the dynamic duo filmed an A-Sidessession where they performed a few tracks, and fielded questions like pro athletes. Speaking of which, their "All The Way" video has all-stars like surfer Anastasia Ashley, snowboarder Mark Reininga, and Motocross stud Scotty Stephens in it so naturally they were asked about it. Anyway, watch below.

A-Sides "Delve Into Twelve" Countdown
Each week A-Sides unleashes its Top 12 tracks of the week AKA the "Delve Into Twelve"based on the following contributing factors: songs I'm playing out that particular week NO MATTER WHEN THEY WERE RELEASED (think overlooked songs, unreleased tracks, and old favorites), songs various publicists are trying to get me to listen to that I did and dug a bunch, posts and trends I've noticed on my friends' Facebook walls, and - most importantly - the songs my two-year-old son gravitates toward by stomping his feet in approval. Yeah, you read that right. This weeks follows below (LW= last week's rank).

12. "Pathetic" (debut) - Erik Hassle
11. "Prague" (debut) - White Sea
10. "Rat Race"(LW-8) - Brody Dalle
9. "Keys" (LW-7)- Hooray for Earth
8. "Let Me Down Gently" (debut) - La Roux

About A-Sides Music

Jon Chattman's "A-Sides Music" series was established in August 2011 and usually features artists (established or not) from all genres performing a track, and discussing what it means to them. This informal series focuses on the artist making art in a low-threatening, extremely informal (sometimes humorous) way. No bells, no whistles -- just the music performed in a random, low-key setting followed by an unrehearsed chat. In an industry where everything often gets overblown and over manufactured, I'm hoping this is refreshing. Artists have included: fun, Rob Zombie, Pharrell Williams, Courtney Love, American Authors, Imagine Dragons, Gary Clark Jr., and more! A-Sides theme written and performed by Blondfire.
