Lights! Camera! A-Sides.
Rick Moranis. Hockey. Heathcare. Youpi. Oh, Canada. You are so underrated and awesome. In many ways -- in the states anyway -- our latest A-Sides guest is just that: underrated, awesome and -- yes -- Canadian. Or maybe I'm wrong because her YouTube hits are ridunkulous. So much for a solid opening sentence or two. Anyway, the highly-celebrated pop star Lights will embark on a tour in support of her last record Little Machines this fall. She'll co-headline with the always feel-good Mowgli's with electro-popsters PHASES also on the bill.
The singer/songwriter's "Up We Go" is an infectious summer anthem, and its music video takes place in an elevator, and is easily the best video to do so since Aerosmith's "Love in an Elevator." Speaking of which, I miss the 1980s classic video game Elevator Action. It was awesome, but probably highly inappropriate.
Anyway, the Juno Award winner recently filmed an A-Sides session with us, performing a pair of tracks and sitting down for a chat. Check out thisisasides.com for all of the above as well as this week's Delve Into Twelve. Oh, and I should mention Lights will perform a special show at Hard Rock Cafe New York in Times Square on Sept. 30 as the 2014 Artist Ambassador for "Pinktober," Hard Rock's annual campaign for breast cancer awareness.

About A-Sides with Jon Chattman: Jon Chattman's music series features celebrities and artists (established or not) from all genres performing a track, and discussing what it means to them. This informal series focuses on the artist making art in a low-threatening, extremely informal (sometime humorous) way. No bells, no whistles -- just the music performed in a random, low-key setting followed by an unrehearsed chat. In an industry where everything often gets overblown and over manufactured, Jon strives for a refreshing change. Artists featured on the series include Imagine Dragons, Melissa Etheridge, Air Supply, Joe Perry, Alice Cooper, fun, Bleachers, Charli XCX, Marina and the Diamonds and Bastille.
