South Carolina topped the news several times in 2015 for the wrong reasons, one of which was the tragic story of a shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in June. The leadership at South Carolina Federal Credit Union met that news with a call to action, asking employees to uphold faith in our Charleston community, trust that the guilty would be brought to justice swiftly, and extend kindness to each other, our families, and our membership as we worked through the tragedy. The employees rallied with donations of time, talent, and treasure. They passed out water at Emanuel AME, linked arms across the Ravenel Bridge, and opened their wallets to assist. The credit union matched employee giving to present a $10,000 check to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund.
