Today you did your job, but you also went above and beyond. You not only took care of me, but you also took care of my babies.

As I walked into the Emergency Room, struggling to withhold my own body weight from being so weak, yet I had to bring my 3-year-old and 18-month-old along. With everything that I needed taken care of with me, you still went above and beyond to go past your duties and help me with my little girls as I was hooked up to numerous things in bed.

To say you showed such grace and patience is an understatement.

You even got me to laugh as we noticed I came with two different socks on and a pair of dress shoes that, let's say, doesn't go so well with athletic socks.

When I became sick, you didn't flinch but rather made me feel as if I was the only patient in the hospital, as if you had all the time in the world to focus solely on me.

When I had to get tests run, you took my baby into your arms as if it was nothing, assuring her Mommy was fine and then proceeded to take take my girls to get toys and the extra juice they were begging for.

Yes, I don't believe that is part of the job description, but it didn't matter to you.

I watched you through the glass doors of my hospital room and despite you thinking no one could see you, I watched you comfort an older gentleman who was confused as to why he was there -- no, he wasn't your patient, but that's what nurses do anyways... everyone becomes their patient who walks across their path.

Without a doubt, God has surely shared His empathy and miracle works through angels like yourself.

No, you just didn't do your job today, you were an incredibly selfless, heartwarming caretaker who wanted no extra thanks or praise.

You were my nurse and made an incredibly difficult time that much easier for me.

...placed in my life for only a handful of hours, but have left an impact on me for eternity.

Today my respect for nurses may have just tripled, and it's because of angels like you that leave this world a better place.
