The real culprits that the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) in Burma should have arrested for a foreigner's intrusion into Aung San Suu Kyi's house were the security officials charged with guarding the home where she lives with her female companions. Because it is inconceivable that the security officials were not fully aware of a foreigner swimming across a lake to ASSK's house where government security apparatus was heavily deployed, the arrest of ASSK looks more like a trap or a set-up.
Dr. Tin Myo Win, personal physician of ASSK, had reported in the past that John William Yettaw swam to Aung San Suu Kyi's house. If the government did not charge Mr. Yettaw with a criminal offense in the past, why are they doing it now? And knowing this, why did the Burmese government grant William Yettaw a visa to enter Burma? The military government's intentional approval to allow Mr. Yettaw into Burma is part of the SPDC's indirect set-up to ensnare Suu Kyi. Since Dr. Win had reported the trespassing of ASSK's property by Mr. Yattaw in the past, arresting Dr. Tin Myo Win prior to this recent event also points to the intentional cover-up by the SPDC
In 1990, the SPDC generals attempted to exploit Aung San Suu Kyi's marriage to a foreigner and brought a lawsuit against her with a false accusation that she was accepting foreign support in order to prevent her from participating in the election. In a similar fashion, as the run-up to the 2010 election gets closer, the military generals are working harder to incriminate Aung San Suu Kyi in some way, to exclude her from the planned election.
What could be a better excuse than catching a deranged westerner red-handed in the middle of her sitting room to prolong her imprisonment beyond the legal limit, and to defame her by bringing criminal charges against her?
Similar to the 2003 Depayin assault on Aung San Suu Kyi's life, this 2009 cruel Insein prison sentence is intended to permanently remove her from opposing the military authoritarianism in Burma.
The real question is who is responsible for the Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi's imprisonment? What can be done about it? What will anyone do? Who will take the blame? Will everyone stand by and do nothing? How about the outside world? Most importantly, how about the United Nations?
