This election is important not only to the people of the United States but the entire world is looking on and will judge us by the outcome. American's traveling the world during the last time the United States had a Republican President, George W. Bush, know instead of debating American policy it was easier just to say "Don't blame me I didn't vote for him". But with Bush at least they had an idea where the United States foreign policy was headed even if they didn't like it. Many knew and respected his father and felt at least they could work with him.

Trump presents them with an entirely different situation. They are actually petrified of him. They believe as many of us do it is unfathomable Americans could possibly vote for this man. They like us see a bully, xenophobe, sexist, misogynist and homophobe. But more they understand he has zero understanding of the world political situation and his election would actually threaten their security.

The American President is called the leader of the free world for a reason. The United States economy and military power make a difference to the future of people around the globe. They get shivers up their spine when Trump threatens to abandon NATO and sends warm and cozy signals to Putin as he threatens countries across Europe and Asia. When Trump trashes the UN saying he was once a 'fan' as if he were talking about a rock group it just plain frightens world leaders.

They have a right to be frightened. They understand how wrong and dangerous his positions like his proposed ban on all Muslim travel to the United States is. How it offends nations that are our partners and who we need to work with to defeat ISIS. Peter Mandelson, a member of the British Cabinet under Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, as well as a former European commissioner for trade who remains in touch with many leaders said, "However much people recoiled from George W. Bush or have been disappointed by Obama, they see Trump as off the Richter scale. The reason for that is not that he must be stupid -- nobody thinks that -- but that he's disdainful, unscrupulous, prepared to say anything to harvest the populist vote. And that makes people frightened."

We live in a volatile world and like it or not we have a global economy and our security is tied to the rest of the world. When Trump uses terms like 'America First' everyone understands how outrageous that is considering the position of the United States in the world today. It seems Trump has no understanding of what the term means to so many. "The phrase also refers to the America First movement in the early 1940s, in which some elements were associated with anti-Semitism and U.S. nationalism in the lead-up to World War II." His using the term only adds to the perception he has a total lack of understanding and disregard of history.

The world reaction to Trump may be unprecedented. Not only past and present leaders of Mexico have responded with fear to the idea of Trump as President but we have seen negative reactions to Trump also come from some of the United States' most stalwart allies, including Canada, Ireland, Britain, France, Germany, Turkey, Israel and Saudi Arabia. While saying he will cozy up to Putin Trump is also saying "he is unlikely to have a good relationship with U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron if he becomes the next U.S. president because of Mr. Cameron's earlier criticism of him." He wants to turn the world upside down with no understanding of what it all means.

There are many reasons for Americans to ensure Trump doesn't become President. His campaign which has been waged to appeal to the worst instincts and fears of people has unleashed an unprecedented wave of racism, sexism, and homophobia threatening to tear the country apart if he is elected. He has become an anathema both to real fiscal conservatives and liberals alike. His apparent inability to control what he says or who he insults is truly frightening.

At this time in the process there is only one person standing in the way of Trump becoming President and that is Hillary Rodham Clinton. The time has come for Americans, even those who are not enamored with Hillary, to join together and elect her our 45th and first woman President. While not everyone agrees with all her policies there is agreement she is brilliant and totally prepared to assume office on day one.

The world is watching and they are hopeful the American people will vote in a way that makes sense for us at home but will also allow the United States to continue to be the respected leader of the free world.
