So I'm heading into Season 13 of "Dr. Phil", and am really excited to be writing my very first blog for my new home on Huffington Post! It's a great partnership not only because I immensely respect my friend Arianna Huffington and what she has accomplished with The Huffington Post, but also because I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to connect with you. Maybe you watch the show and maybe you don't. Either way, I want you to know that my commitment is to talk about things that matter, to people who care. I'm betting if it is important to you, it is important to me too. I am a husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. Like you, family is important to me and I feel sometimes it gets crowded out of central focus in our busy lives.

Whether you're stuck in a toxic relationship and ready to be treated the way you deserve, overweight and desperate to slim down, sick of your kids disrespecting you or just plain ready to be the best you that you can be... it's my job to help you start living differently, authentically, and purposefully. Well now I'm also helping you do what you want to do by joining you on The Huffington Post because that's where millions of people like you are spending your time! (I'll continue to be online at DrPhil.com as well, in case you're wondering.) I'll be sharing my advice as well as offering behind-the-scenes access to my show, weighing in on the latest news stories, and even answering your questions directly. (Ask away right here.) My wife Robin, who recently launched Robin McGraw Revelation, will also be contributing periodically -- she's already sharing her #1 message for women here.

As I look back over the last 12 years of doing "Dr. Phil" and five years before that on "Oprah," I realize what a privilege I have. The way I look at it, having the #1 talk show in America is both a blessing and a responsibility -- a responsibility I take very seriously. Our whole staff at "Dr. Phil" and our blue ribbon Advisory Board of experts from all the relevant fields work really hard to be good stewards of that platform and the trust our viewers extend to us.

We are just days away from our season premiere on Tuesday September 9, and I've even gotten a bit of a makeover in preparation for it! Well, not me personally ... take a look here to see what I mean. If you haven't gotten to know me at all over the years, I'm a no-BS guy who calls it like I see it -- so if you're ready to get real, you can start with my tell-it-like-it-is advice, and follow me on Facebook and Twitter to get the latest from me on Huffington Post.
