Aaron Francis Engler, Allegedly Drunk Secret Service Agent, Arrested In Miami After Obama Trip (VIDEO)

Drunk Secret Service Agent Found Passed Out On Sidewalk: Cops

Not everyone can handle the infamous Miami nightlife: a U.S. Secret Service agent was arrested around 7 a.m. Friday after police say they found him passed out drunk on a sidewalk.

Aaron Francis Engler was spotted lying near the intersection of Brickell Avenue and SE 7th Street with bloodshot eyes and a strong smell of alcohol, according to the police report. When an officer approached to check on him, he allegedly became aggressive.

"[Engler] started arguing with me and throwing his arms around while I was conducting a pat down," wrote the arresting officer. “At this point motorists traveling in the area were stopping to watch his actions.”

The officer reported Engler struck his face while resisting.

After managing to handcuff Engler, officers went through his pockets and discovered he was Secret Service, working on the advance team for President Barack Obama’s visit to Miami Thursday afternoon, law enforcement sources told CBS Miami.

The sources told CBS Engler went out and “got very drunk” after Obama left Miami Thursday night, despite having an assignment Friday morning in another city.

He was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence, both misdemeanors, police said. NBC6 reports Engler was then released to members of the Secret Service's Miami field office.

According to the Associated Press, Engler was not part of the president's personal security detail.
