ATTLEBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has left a police station and is due in court after being arrested at his home.

The Pro Bowler was taken from his Massachusetts house in handcuffs Wednesday morning, more than a week after a Boston semi-pro football player was found dead in an industrial park a mile from Hernandez's house.

It's not clear what charges are being filed against Hernandez. Less than two hours after his arrest, the Patriots announced they had cut him from the team.

About two dozen supporters cheered, some yelling "We love you Aaron," as the car carrying Hernandez left the police station in North Attleborough.

State police had searched in and around Hernandez's home several times since Odin Lloyd's body was found. Police say he was slain.
