Abby Cadabby And Sesame Workshop's Dr. Jeanette Betancourt Talk Divorce (VIDEO)

WATCH: 'Sesame Street' Character Opens Up About Parents' Divorce

On Thursday, "Sesame Street's" Abby Cadabby stopped by HuffPost Live to talk about the difficulties young kids face when their parents divorce. She was accompanied by Dr. Jeanette Betancourt, Sesame Workshop's Senior Vice President of Outreach and Educational Practices.

Abby Cadabby -- a child of divorce herself -- told host Nancy Redd that she was angry and sad when her parents first told her about the split, and that she "felt so many things at once that [she] just didn't know what to feel." But she later came to realize that despite the big changes, some things would remain the same.

"That was the one feeling that would never change -- their love for me and my love for them," she said to a tearful Redd.

In December, Sesame Workshop -- the nonprofit behind "Sesame Street" -- launched "Little Children, Big Challenges: Divorce," a free online tool kit designed to help young children and their families get through divorce. The resources include an online segment featuring popular puppets like Abby Cadabby and Elmo, a children's book, a mobile app and a guidebook for parents.

Watch the video above to see Abby Cadabby's touching account of divorce from a child's perspective and to learn more about the Sesame Workshop initiative.
