ABC News has apologized to viewers for showing live footage of Robin Williams' home after he was found dead on Monday.

The beloved actor and comedian was found in his California home as a result of an apparent suicide. After Williams' family asked for privacy in a statement, ABC News released live shots from outside of his home, with a large banner on its website reading, "Watch Live: Aerials of Robin Williams‘ Home.”

Many expressed their shock and disappointment on Twitter:

The network later issued an apology, admitting that there was "no news value" to the footage.

“When we realized there was no news value to the live stream, we took it down immediately," ABC News said in a statement. “Our intention was not to be insensitive to his family, friends and fans, and for that we apologize."
