Yesterday an article was published in the NY Post in which Adam Carolla added his name to the list of men in the public eye who don't think women are funny. Yawn.

Sure, I was frustrated that Adam said it, but what do we expect from a man who, at the age of 48, still can't get over his mother's disdain for him? (Save it for the couch, Carolla, that shit is stale.) But what frustrates me more than anything is the fact that the topic is still being discussed in the media. I know Larry Getlen, the man who wrote the article, and he's a great man and a supporter of G.L.O.C. -- he was one of the attendees at our Relaunch Party in fact -- and I get that he has to get his story, but why not just leave it out next time? What is putting those words in print yet again doing except turning more people against a man who clearly already hates himself? And I'm sure no ladies are reading that and letting it affect the way they feel about themselves or women in comedy, but there are probably a lot of guys who stand with Carolla on whatever he says and with that I have a big problem. This is not a solitary fight -- we need you too, guys.

I posted the article on my Facebook page with pretty much the same sentiment as above, but it just took time away from my day and others' and brought on some angry comments and pretty much accomplished nothing. So I made a pact with myself: the next time I see those, or a variant on those words in print, I'm just going to Let It Lie.

It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? On one hand it's a reminder to turn the other cheek and not waste any more breath or brain power on ridiculous people with ridiculous, antiquated notions. The conversation no longer needs to be had. We have discussed this thing to death, let's just move on; let it lie. On the other hand, it's a little nod to the fact that these statements are false and the people in question are coming from a sad, scared place where funny women are threatening. Remove the baggage and broken brains they carry around each day and you know they'd find a wealth of funny women surrounding them.

So let them lie and let it lie -- we've got better things to do with our time.
